How Long Does it Currently Take to get a Hearing Scheduled at the Landlord and Tenant Board?

How Long Does it Currently Take to get a Hearing Scheduled at the Landlord and Tenant Board?

Many changes were made to the Residential Tenancies Act on September 1, 2021. More adjudicators have also been hired.

At that time (June 25, 2023,) I expect that a new non-payment of rent application, an L1 or L9 filed today, should now take about 5-6 months from filing for a hearing to be scheduled.

The Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board is working to get hearings scheduled for L2 applications down to 7-8 months.

The wait for a hearing to be scheduled for tenant application such as a T1, T2, T5, or T6 is currently longer a year or more.
